About Us – Sterilisation Policy
At Smilessence infection control and sterilisation is taken very seriously. We ensure to keep up with new technologies and procedures. We are very proud of our strict sterilisation policy to the extent that our sterilisation area is in full vision for you to see our decontamination procedure providing the highest level of safety and care for our staff and patients.
If it isn't clean, It can't be sterilised!!
Authorities now recommend that dental instruments must first be processed in a mechanical washer or washer disinfector (The Hydrim) prior to sterilisation. Across Europe guidelines are being implemented to reflect this advice.
At Smilessence effective sterilisation begins with our very own mechanical washer disinfector, which automatically washes, rinses, disinfects and dries stainless steel dental instruments. Cleaning solution is dispensed automatically and clean purified water is used with every new cycle. The disinfecting process removes virtually all proteins with its powerful pre wash cycle, and then two independent, high pressure sprays clean the instrument load from above and below removing virtually all organic debris. Independent tests show an efficacy of 99.9-100 per cent in The Hydrim as standard.
Safer for our staff and our patients
Integrating mechanical washing into Smilessence, decontamination protocol provides a high level of safety, particularly to our staff against the risk of skin puncture injuries which occur during the hand washing of contaminated instruments. Disinfection at 80'C or 93'C follows the washing phase, rendering the instruments safe to handle.
Our sterilisation equipment, The Statim 5000s autoclave features a variety of sterilisation cycles, each cycle containing different preconditioning and sterilization parameters. Therefore at Smilessence all instruments as well as all autoclavable plastics are subjected to our autoclave.
